The four 2009 FCC host cities plan to supplement regular transport operations to ensure spectators have an effective network of services and can access all events and surrounding local attractions. As the event unfolds each city will finalise its transport service plan and publish key information for all visitors and spectators on this website.
Each host city operates a minimum of:
The above services operate in addition to the regular public transport services.
The special services are well planned to attract a large proportion of visitors and spectators so as to relieve traffic pressure on the stadium access routes and stadium precincts.
Metered taxi services at airports, city centres and close to stadiums are to also be utilised, offering independent options for small groups and individuals.
Approaching the stadium via public transport, shuttles and by pedestrian access is highly promoted whilst private vehicles are to be heavily restricted. Each host city has a clear stadium approach plan with a wide, vehicle free, pedestrian only zone with the closest private vehicle parking areas being located at least 2-3 km from the stadium.
Clear signage directing visitors and spectators to parking areas, the stadium precinct and all key locations is designed to facilitate easy navigation, whichever travel option is chosen.
Information brochures on local transport and local area orientation are available on arrival at key information kiosks at airports and transport hubs as well as being published electronically.
