How to use the maps

Welcome to Finding your Way with Maps

 

We hope that our maps will provide you with all the information that you need.

You can do the following with Finding Your Way with Maps:

  • Getting to know your host city
  • Want to see where the stadium is located in a host city?
  • Let’s get straight to the park and ride

 

Getting to know your host city

If you want to find out a little more about the host city where you will be situated go to
Select a Host City and click on the down arrow. You will be given a list of the Confederation Cup host cities (i.e. Bloemfontein, Johannesburg, Pretoria and Rustenburg). Once you have selected your host city clicked on Zoom.

You will then be shown a street map of your host city with the location of the stadium and park and rides being visible. The Legends shows what each of the symbols on the map mean. The location of the airport will also be shown on the map.


Map Help

 

On the map there are four very easy to use tools

 

  • the zoom in or out slider – this allows you to zoomed in or out of the centre of the map – by clicking on the you will zoom out or by clicking on the you will be able to zoom-in
  • zoom-in magnifier – by using your mouse and by holding down your left mouse button you can create a rectangle around an area that you would like to view
  • the hand tool – allows you to move the map from side to side in any direction
  • By clicking on the you can control what layers of information are shown:
  • By clicking on the Google maps layer hybrid you can view the host city using a satellite photograph.Map Layers
  • By clicking on the box is to the left of the Overlays a tick will appear which switches on the layer
  • To switch off the layer click on the tick and it will disappear
  • The layers that you will be able to switch on and off include:
    • Host cities
    • Park and ride facilities
    • Airports
    • Stadium locations
    • Traffic three and warning zones
    • Road closures and road barriers
    • To close the layer control again click on the negative box

 

Want to see where the stadium is located in a host city?

This can be easily done by going to Select a Stadium and clicking on the drop down arrow. This will show you what stadium is in your host city. Select the stadium listed and click on the Zoom buttons. This will provide a more detailed map of the street surrounding the stadium where the Confederation Cup soccer matches will be played.

By going to the Layer Control you will now be able to switch on other layers of interest to you including the traffic free and warning zones, road closures and road barriers.

You can now use the map to help you navigate from where you are staying to get to the park and ride facilities.

By clicking on the park and ride symbol Park & Ride Symbolit will tell you the name and street and suburb where it is located. For those of you that have a Global Positioning System (GPS) it also gives you the latitude and longitude that you can enter the coordinates into a GPS so that you can navigate accurately to the park and ride. If you would like to get a better understanding of where the park and ride is situated you can click on the Zoom button.

 

Let’s get straight to the park and ride

 

If you know which park and ride you have to get to you can select the host city and stadium from their drop down lists before clicking on the drop down arrow next to Select a Park and Ride and selecting the park and ride from the list provided. The next thing is to click on Zoom to be able to get a more detailed view of the streets and area surrounding the park and ride you are going to.

If you would like to get a picture of the environment surrounding the park and ride then go to the layer control and click on Google Map Layer Hybrid. Then use either the Zoom-In Slider or Zoom-In Magnifier to get a more detailed view of the area surrounding the park and ride.
