Rustenburg Park and Ride Locations

 

 

RUSTENBURG SERVICES:

Spectators are encouraged to make use of Park & Ride sites, all of which are located at convenient positions on the primary feeder routes to the Royal Bafokeng Stadium. Spectators will not be allowed to park in the following areas:

• Close to the stadium precinct with private vehicles, arranged public transport e.g. taxi or bus
  
• Within the stadium precinct and it is recommended that consideration be given to the utilisation of the Park & Ride sites.

 

1. Park and Ride Locations:

 

• A total of six Park & Ride sites will be operational, which are as follows:
  
• Western By-pass P&R
  
• R104 P&R
  
• Olympia Stadium P&R
  
• Phokeng Northern P&R
  
• Phokeng Eastern P&R
  
• Phokeng Western P&R
  
• (See map above).

 

These sites are conveniently located for private vehicles to park in a secure environment, and for spectators to then be transported in a free shuttle service to the stadium and back. Drop-off and pick-up at the stadium will be located at preferential areas, which are located within close proximity to the stadium entrances.

 

2. Service details:

Hours of operation:

The hours of operation will be from 4 hours before the kick-off to 2 hours after the completion of the match.

The shuttle service to and from the stadium will be provided free of charge to spectators, with parking also provided free of charge in a secure environment.

 

Frequency of services:

The frequency of services will be depending on demand from spectators.

Before the match, it is expected that a shuttle will depart at least every 15 minutes from the Park & Ride to the stadium.

After the match, the complete fleet will be available to transport spectators back to the Park & Ride sites.

The frequency will be depending on the return times of the shuttle services, which is expected to be in the order of 15-20 minutes for all sites, except for Olympia Stadium which will be 30-35 minutes.

 

3. Cost of Park & Ride services:

The Host City intends to promote the use of the Park & Ride sites. No fees will therefore be charged for the use of the parking area, or the transport on the shuttle services to and from the stadium.

 

4. Capacities of Park & Ride sites:

Sufficient capacity is provided at the Park & Ride sites. The approximate capacities of the various sites are as follows:

• Western By-pass P&R (3 500 – 4 000 vehicles)
• R104 P&R (1 000 – 1 500 vehicles)
  
• Olympia Stadium P&R (1 000 – 1 500 vehicles)
  
• Phokeng Northern P&R (500 – 600 vehicles)
  
• Phokeng Eastern P&R (500 – 600 vehicles)
  
• Phokeng Western P&R (200 – 300 vehicles)

 

5. Stadium drop-off and pick-up points:

The stadium drop-off and pick-up points will be as follows:

• R565 just to the south of the stadium precinct (on eastern side of the road). This drop-off and pick-up location will be serving the following Park & Ride sites:

• Ring-road on eastern side of stadium. This drop-off and pick-up location will be serving the following Park & Ride sites:

• Next to school sites north of stadium. This drop-off and pick-up location will be serving the following Park & Rides site:
  
  • Phokeng Northern P&R
